5 Journal Prompts You Need To Try this Holiday Season

Hello Friends,

As someone who journals religiously, I am excited to share some of my favourite holiday journal prompts with you. But first, let’s talk about why journaling is especially important and beneficial over the holidays.

Staying Grounded: Taking time to gather your thoughts and get them onto paper is a grounding practice that is extra important during a busy time like the holiday season. When everything feels chaotic around you, having a consistent mindfulness practice, like journaling that is in your control, can help you stay grounded.

Emotional Support: The holiday season can amplify feelings by throwing extra stressors and triggers at you from every direction. Journaling can help you prepare for, process, and cope with these heightened and complex feelings.

Stress Release: When you are experiencing heightened stress, journaling can help you release pent-up mental tension. It gives you an outlet to let out things you may not be able to say and emotions you may be holding in.

These five journal prompts will help you plan for the holiday season and go into them intentionally. Leave a comment or message me to let me know if you use them and how they work for you!

  1. How do you want to feel during the holidays, and what steps can you take to support that?
  2. Are you holding onto any unrealistic expectations for the holidays? How can you let them go?
  3. What is something that is stressing you out about the holidays? How can you focus your energy on enjoying it instead?
  4. What is one holiday experience that was overwhelming for you last year? How can you approach it differently this year?
  5. What three things can you do to prioritize presence over perfection this holiday season?
