Wellness Recap: Overwhelmed but Grateful

Hello Friends,

It’s been a week. This week has quite literally been a little bit of everything for me. Which has added up to be A LOT. This week has made me feel extremely overwhelmed, and a little tired and run down from the craziness. However, I am very grateful for all the opportunities and experiences this week has given me! It is challenging to balance those two things, so here is what I have been doing this week to get through!

Taking it One Step at a Time: Looking at everything you have to do in a week can feel like you are facing a mountain. When you have a mountain standing in front of you, blocking your path, it is understandable that it feels overwhelming and impossible to get through. However, it becomes much more manageable if you break it down into smaller, easier-to-swallow steps. You may not be able to climb a mountain all at once, but you can take one Step at a time. Before you know it, you will be far beyond the mountain!

Prioritizing: Part of breaking it down is prioritizing. When things get piled up, and you feel overwhelmed, it is time to whip out that pad of paper and a pen and prioritize. Step 1 is to write down each task that you need to do. Step 2 is to pick out the most important and urgent things you need to do. You can highlight, circle, or rewrite them completely, whatever works for you. This can help you better manage and accomplish things when feeling overwhelmed.

Checking in and Listening to My Body: I have said it once and will continue to say it: your well-being always needs to come first. You must stop and check in with your body when things get busy and overwhelming. Beyond that, it is vital to listen to your body. That means if you feel like you need a break, take it. If you don’t stop and take a break, your body will eventually make you take a break. So be proactive and listen to your body.

Find Moments for Gratitude: No matter how busy life gets, I always find time to be grateful. Not only is it an excellent grounding exercise for when you are feeling overwhelmed, but it can also help you enjoy things that you may otherwise dread due to how busy or tired you may be. For example, this week, I had to do something I was dreading because I was already so exhausted. Then I thought about it and remembered how much I wanted to do this a year ago. That completely changed my attitude toward this activity from dread to gratitude for the opportunity.

If you feel overwhelmed this week or have for a while, know you are not alone. Hopefully, you can take at least one of my tips above to help you manage and get through this week! There are only 11 more posts left of Blogmas, so make sure you subscribe to stay up to date!

Until Tomorrow, My Friends!

P.S. I’m proud of you 😉
