No Stress Summer Approved Summer Bucket List For Anxious People

Hi Friends,

Okay, I’m going to be honest with you: I’m not really a summer girly. *GASP* I know, I know, shocking (probably not actually). Heat and I are not the best of friends, especially if I don’t have an easy escape, like a pool I can jump into, a sprinkler I can run through, or blasting AC I can stand in front of. Things also tend to slow down for me in the summer, which I find gives my anxiety all the more opportunity to spiral. Those things mixed together, plus the pressure to have it all together come September, can make summer a very stressful time for me. Thus, No Stress Summer.

I personally prefer the ‘ber months (September, October, November, and December). If you know me, you know I love any reason to celebrate, and the ‘ber months hold all of my favourite celebrations of the year! That being said, over the last year, I have really been working on being present and content in the season I am in, both metaphorically and physically.

Previously in my life, I would get excited for Easter in January, then for summer in April, and so on, until I was excited for Christmas in September. The problem with this way of living was that I was constantly so focused on and excited for the future that I would let the present pass me by. I would be so excited for things so early that by the time they actually rolled around, I would be over them and excited for the next thing. When it finally came, I wasn’t even present or excited for it anymore. I could never just enjoy where I was at. Because of that, life was passing me by, and I was missing it.

All of this to say that I am trying to romanticize my current situation and look for things to be excited about in each moment. Even in my less favourite seasons. So even though summer isn’t my favourite season, there are still plenty of things I can enjoy. I like to compile a list of these things so in times when I feel bummed out by or bored in my current season, I have something I can quickly reference for ideas to bring life back into it. Thus, I give you my…
