Back and Better Than Ever! Why I took A break.

Hello Friends,

WE ARE SO BACK! It has been too long.

I am not going to bore you with what has happened in my life over the past four months. Nor am I going to bombard you with excuses for my absence from blogging. Frankly, because there is no real reason. Life has been busy, but it always is. At any point over the last four months, I could have picked up my laptop and whipped up a blog post, but I simply didn’t feel like it.

And that is OKAY! The reason I initially took a step back from my blog in January was that I was being too hard on myself and setting overly high expectations. Which sucked all the fun and life out of it. I expected to be like Forbes within the first couple of months of starting my blog, and well, that just isn’t how things work.

Here’s the real tea friends. I am a twenty-something girl who has never done any of this before. I had never created a website, seen code, or even tried to create one before I started No One Listens to Laura. Nor had I ever written a blog post, heard of SEO, or made my own real social media content before No One Listens to Laura existed. I have flown by the seam of my pants every step of the way. It is easy to see how expecting Forbes-level production and success from myself while having no idea what I was doing was bound to crush me and any fun I was having.

Needless to say, I was reluctant to get back to it out of fear of disappointing myself again. Above that, I really struggled to motivate myself to sit down and start blogging again. I tried a couple of times in May because I wanted to post for Mental Health Awareness Month; however, it just didn’t flow. I would stare at “Hello Friends” on my screen for half an hour with no inspiration or desire to write anything beyond that. Until today…

I’m not sure if it’s the new month (Happy June, by the way) or what, but I’m back! This time, it will be different. I’m adopting an “anything goes” attitude (shoutout to Emma Chamberlain, who inspired this mindset). Here are the rules… don’t come at me with, “How can it be anything goes if there are rules?” I’m still me, okay. My goal is to post at least once a week, but if I skip one week and post three times the next, that’s great, too.

As for what I am writing about… this is where anything goes. Maybe I’ll post baking recipes, travel rundowns, movie reviews, life updates, stories, or other things I can’t even imagine right now. Whatever I find fun to write is what I will post. Another thing is I am dropping my perfectionism. Harder said than done, but I am going to do my best. I won’t obsess over each post for hours. I’m going to write what feels good and post it while I’m still having fun!

Now, before the questions start rolling in, yes, there will still be mental health content and a mental health undertone to lots of my writing and content in general; however, I am not going to pigeonhole myself to that. Last time, it had such a blue/down vibe, which is cool. Don’t get me wrong, it’s just not what I want right now. We’re currently here for all things fun! Also, I’m going to work on a rebrand of No One Listens to Laura to match my new, fun vibe. It’s going to be a process though, so bear with me!

Well, that ended up being much longer than I intended, but here we are. I hope you enjoyed my first “Anything Goes” writing post and are excited about what’s to come for No One Listens to Laura! If you’ve made it this far, thank you for sticking around through my rambling. LOL! You’re a real one! 😉 I’m going to go eat some ice cream to celebrate my return; feel free to join me!

As always follow me on social media to keep up to date with all things No One Listens to Laura!

Until next time, my friends!

P.S. I’m proud of you 😉

Yes, double winky faces because it’s FUN!!!
