Controversial take but this is the ultimate Frozen treat

Hi Friends,

We are back, back, back again with my summer fun series, and this week, I am giving you my ultimate frozen treat breakdown. (Number 1 may be a controversial pick)

Without further ado, let’s introduce the contenders.

In this corner, we have the classic popsicle!

  • Flavour: 8/10 Fruity flavours scream summer, and having a variety of options in one box and sometimes even in one pop is very lovely!
  • Texture: -6/10 Horrible. I generally avoid popsicles because I don’t like the texture. The scraping of frozenness on my teeth is like nails on a chalkboard…NO THANK YOU!
  • Refreshment: 9/10 Frozen juice proves very effective for cooling you down.
  • Mess Factor: 4/10 goes from too cold to eat to soup quite quickly, so you have a short window for optimal enjoyment.
  • Other Notes: Overall, an okay summer treat, definitely not my first choice. I also only ever ate them when I was sick as a kid, so this may be biased because of that.

Final Score: 15/40…I said what I said…no remorse

Centre Stage we have Ice Cream

  • Flavour: 10/10 So many options you can pick whatever you want/are feeling! SO YUM!
  • Texture: 8/10 Creamy, smooth deliciousness! Losses points because if there is an ice chunk, we are back to nails on a chalkboard, but I like it when there are chunks of chocolate or something to mix it up and not be all one note.
  • Refreshment: 6/10 Does the trick for sure, however, I find fruity things more refreshing than a dairy-based option (note: Gelato, Sorbet, Sherbert, etc, are not included, but let me know if you want a part two with those added in.)
  • Mess Factor: 6/10, bit of a nightmare to eat in the heat; however, I prefer it in a cup anyway, so that helps quite a lot.
  • Other Notes: Iconic for a reason! It’s not a real summer night without some ice cream.

Final Score: 30/40…probably too low, but what can I say, I am a harsh critic.

Next Up Freezies/Ice Pops

  • Flavour: 8/10 Same as popsicles
  • Texture: 10/10 I love when they get a little melty and are like a slushie consistency! Bonus points for the leftover juice at the end once you eat all of the ice!
  • Refreshment: 10/10 It’s literally fruit-flavoured ice. It doesn’t get much more refreshing than that.
  • Mess Factor: 7/10 Messes can be pretty avoidable, thanks to the plastic pouch these come in; however, if you slide it up too quickly, there is definitely still an opportunity for it to go everywhere.
  • Other Notes: Quick and easy frozen treat. Loses points because the plastic always hurts the sides of my mouth.

Final Score: 35/40

Last but certainly not least Frozen Yogurt

  • Flavour: 10/10 So many options from fruity to chocolatey, and all of the toppings make the possibilities endless.
  • Texture: 10/10 Smooth and soft. No possibility of the nails on the chalkboard ice encounter. Toppings give the opportunity to mix it up, so it’s not one note!
  • Refreshment: 8/10 Less heavy than ice cream and fruit flavour options.
  • Mess Factor: 9/10 I feel it is almost always in a cup of some sort, which makes the mess much more avoidable. I also find it melts a lot slower than other frozen treats.
  • Other Notes: A perfect frozen treat in my opinion, and bonus points for being a healthier option!

Final Score: 37/40…Sorry, not sorry…Fro-yo superiority!

I told you my opinion was controversial. Sound off in the comments about your favourite frozen treat for summer! Or let me know your thoughts on social media!

Until next time, my friends,

P.S. I’m proud of you 😉
