Hello Friends,
In my 20 years of Christmases, I have learned that the true magic of Christmas is in the small moments. It isn’t about who gets or gives the best gift if the turkey is cooked just right, or if the tree is bigger this year than last. It’s about randomly breaking out into jingle bells and someone else joining in. It’s about everyone watching one side of the car while driving home with the tree on the roof to ensure it doesn’t fall off. Christmas magic is about helping a stranger pick out a Christmas card for their loved one. Yes, Christmas does change as you grow up, as do most things in life. But, just because it changes doesn’t mean you can’t still find the magic of Christmas as an adult.
Find Christmas magic in nostalgia. Watching your favourite Christmas movies from when you were a kid, decorating the tree the same way you always have or helping your mom bake the cookies just like you used to are all ways of finding Christmas magic in adulthood!
Find Christmas magic in new traditions. You could host a Christmas dinner, Start a friends-mas tradition, or attend a holiday work party or event. Christmas can be whatever you want it to be!
Create Magic for Your Inner Child. There is plenty of Christmas magic that you can experience as an adult that you couldn’t when you were a kid. Go chop down a Christmas tree, eat cookies for breakfast, and stay up watching Christmas movies all night. The little kid who wanted those things but could never have them is still inside you, so go ham and make them happy!
Create Christmas Magic for Others. If you are having trouble finding Christmas magic, maybe it is time you start creating it! Whether it is for your children, nieces and nephews, cousins, siblings, parents, grandparents, friends, or complete strangers, creating magic for others may help you tap into it as well.
